Description

Immigrazione, violenza dell’anima by Camille Carbonaro is a photographic and graphic project who explores the notion of the foreigner and the self-construction in unknown territory. Photographs, wrintings, archives and embroideries question the notion of exile through encounters. The documentary dimension of this project is combined with a plastic research and a reinterpretation of the images found in the city. Who is the stranger? In what way is exodus a human violence? This collaborative approach makes it possible to sensitively define the notion of immigration today. This project was made as part of an artistic residency at Fotofabrik gallery in Berlin in 2017. This project was exhibited at BASE Milano as part of Milano Photoweek 2018, at Galerie Fotofabrik Bnl-bxl in duo with Katrin Streicher and selected at Funzilla Photobook 2018 in Rome. This project took part of the itinerant exhibition Musée de la Motographie exhibited at Recyclart, FOMU Antwerp, C/O Berlin, Les Rencontres d’Arles, Le Bal and Fotofestiwal Lodz.
