As part of the publication of our first collective photography magazine • REVUE MACARONI • on the theme of Origins, which invites ten photographic artists to publish their portfolios, we are launching a call to highlight ten other student, amateur or professional photographic artists by selecting one photograph per artist to be published in the Open Call section. By Origins we mean images – photographs in the broadest sense, documents, collages, etc. – that explore family histories, dual identities, multiculturalism, roots and genealogical legacies.

The magazine is supported by the FWB with a small budget, and the artists selected will receive a copy of the magazine, but unfortunately cannot be paid.

Revue Macaroni is designed by Camille Carbonaro. The cover is designed by Victoria Kieffer.

We’re delighted to announce that Macaronibook will be taking part in the Arles Book Fair organised by France Photobook at the Ecole Supérieure de la Photographie during the opening week of Rencontres d’Arles, on Tuesday 4, Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 July from 13:00 to 19:30. We look forward to seeing you in Arles !

Very excited and proud to share this wonderful news with you! My friend and talented artist Alaa Mansour is the winner of the 1st Photo Book Award from The Eyes • The Eyes Wide Open with the support of the SAIF of the Ministry of Culture for her photobook Aïnata that we will publish with Macaronibook !

” Aïnata is a place, the village of my parents, and the territory of my childhood located in the south of Lebanon. Aïnata is the story of 25 years of Israeli occupation and multiple wars and offensives. It is also the story of multiple resistances and a dream of liberation.” Aïnata is initially a film project made by two hands between the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012 and is part of a history of occupation, resistance, wars and transnational struggles that never cease to generate unfulfilled memories. It is not a question of making a book about the film, but of extending the very space of the film to the book. Like a rhizome, it is a question of mapping within the book the different strata – visual and textual – that make up the body of Aïnata, of giving an account of the multiplicity of forms of memory and of the discourse of and on History.

I’m delighted to share Frederic Martin’s accurate, sensitive and political words in 9lives Magazine about the book Immigrazione violenza dell’anima by Camille Carbonaro published by Macaronibook.

“And on each page of this book, in the form of interconnected fragments, this question: who am I when I am no longer at home ? And what is home now ? (…) Composed of small leaflets, inserts, it resembles a patient embroidery around the questions of identity, reconstruction, the position of the immigrant. Each page takes us into a fragmented territory, sometimes uncultivated, like so many detours, loops of the soul. Immigrazione violenza dell’anima is a multiple, complex book, as are the stories it evokes.”
